Short Track Speedskating
You can start skating anytime. New skaters should arrive 30-40 minutes before scheduled ice time. All short track (ST) practices are at the Royal Sports Center in south Anchorage.
We have practices most Saturdays from September through March. in the 2021-22 season there is also ST on Tuesday evenings 7-8 PM from September to early December, and then from mid-February to mid-March. See the Calendar for details. Saturday sessions are an hour and a half, run from 8:15-9:45AM and have more technique work and games. There is coaching at all practices to help you learn or improve speedskating technique.
We have club skates and safety gear available in most sizes for use during practice sessions. Skaters of all abilities are welcome. There's no excuse not to try this!
We ask that you register online (go to "Registration" above) before your first session. This saves time when you arrive and takes care of "paperwork" before the skating session. There's an introductory price of $25 for 2 skating sessions for short track ice time. Also be sure to sign the liability waiver. There's no need to become a club member to skate a few sessions, but membership is encouraged for regular skaters.
